Newsmakers: Guide to Milwaukee-Area Highway Projects
Several major Milwaukee-area highway projects — the Zoo Interchange, Hoan Bridge, north-south I-94 and Rawson Avenue intersection — threaten to disrupt and frustrate drivers who don’t plan ahead this summer and fall. The Zoo Interchange, for example, is the busiest crossroads in Wisconsin, for example. But Brett Wallace, a state Department of Transportation regional deputy director, offered tips and guidlines to drivers in a Newsmakers interview on May 24. Wallace said WisDOT learned how to use social media and other ways to keep drivers updated from two major completed projects, the Marquette and Mitchell intersections. Drivers who are aware of the construction projects, and who check for WisDOT bulletins, will be able to navigate the construction zones without going crazy, Wallace added.
