Newsmakers: Hispanic Leaders on Redistricting, Upcoming Elections & Wrap-up of Legislative Session

The only Hispanic member of the Legislature, Milwaukee Democratic Rep. JoCasta Zamarippa, says the 2011-12 legislative session was an "attack" on Wisconsin Latinos, whose numbers grew statewide by 74% between 2000 and 2010. Zamarippa was one of four Latino leaders on a Newsmakers panel taped in Milwaukee on April 12. The other three leaders who discussed redistricting, the pending recall election of Gov. Scott Walker and the November presidential election were Christine Neumann-Ortiz of Voces de la Frontera, Dr. Enrique Figueroa of UW-Milwaukee and Milwaukee Alderman-elect Jose Perez.
