Newsmakers: Kathleen Falk

On Oct. 4, Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk stunned Democrats statewide when she announced that she will resign midway through her fourth term, clearing the way for a successor to be elected in April.  In a Newsmakers interview in the WisconsinEye studio on Oct. 14, Falk said she still wants to “change the world” and will search for a new way to do that. The daughter of an alcoholic, she also talked about her lifelong campaign against alcohol abuse and the two statewide campaigns she lost – attorney general in 2006 and governor in 2002. Although Falk recruits women to run for public office, she refused to predict when a woman will be elected governor.
