Newsmakers: Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Marina Dimitrijevic (4th District)

Marina Dimitrijevic has only been chairwoman of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors for a few weeks, but she’s already reworked how the 18-member board communicates with residents of Wisconsin’s largest county. In a May 9 Newsmakers interview in her office, Dimitrijevic talked about Milwaukee County’s transit problems and her frustration at the inability of state leaders to implement a 1-cent increase in the local sales tax to take bus and parks systems off the property tax — a tax increase voters approved years ago. Although her job is officially non-partisan, the 31-year-old Dimitrijevic is a new leader in Democratic Party politics statewide.
