Civil Dialogue: Representatives Robin Vos and Mark Pocan

In the September Civil Dialogue, Republican Rep. Robin Vos and Democratic Rep. Mark Pocan disagreed on the roles of federal and state governments, health-care reform and whether President Obama will be re-elected next year. Vos also praised the issues — including whether Social Security is a "Ponzi" scheme — being raised by GOP presidential candidate Rick Perry, governor of Texas. They also discussed the Sept. 15 incident in which a protester poured a beer over Vos’s head in a downtown Madison hotel lounge  — an act both agreed does not help the protester’s cause. It was the last Civil Dialogue show for Pocan, who is running for the Madison-based 2nd District seat in the U.S. House. Next month, Democratic Assembly Leader Peter Barca will appear with Vos.
