Newsmakers: DACA Legislation with Rep. Macco and Rep. Ortiz-Velez
A pair of Wisconsin legislators continue to advocate for an issue many wouldn’t see as bi-partisan, the rights of undocumented immigrants. Specifically, Republican Representative John Macco and Democratic Representative Sylvia Ortiz-Velez introduced a package of bills supporting Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or DACA recipients in December. So far, none of the bills have reached a floor vote, yet the two are not giving up. Rep. Macco and Rep. Ortiz-Velez joined WisconsinEye’s Newsmakers on February 12, 2024.
