On March 14, 2022, Newsmakers Host Lisa Pugh sat down for an exit interview with Republican Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke (R-Kaukauna) who was elected to the Legislature in 2010 as part of the Tea Party wave and recently announced he’s leaving. The Fox Valley area legislator says his proudest accomplishments include investments in children’s mental health and homelessness, along with bi-partisan law enforcement reforms in the wake of the George Floyd murder. He’s been a harsh and public critic of 2020 election deniers, including those in his own party. He shares his greatest concerns for Wisconsin’s future.
