Newsmakers: Government Accountability Board Director Kevin Kennedy
In a Dec. 6 Newsmakers, GAB Director Kevin Kennedy said the GAB’s current membership of six retired judges works better than the old Elections Board, which was made up of seven partisan appointees and a Supreme Court chief justice designee. Kennedy also said Wisconsin should remain one of nine states with same-day registration laws, which the official said is most often used by voters who update their addresses and other information. GOP Gov. Scott Walker has said he supports repeal of same-day registration, but he will not make it part of his 2013-15 legislative agenda. But veteran Republican legislators are making repeal of same-day registration one of the first bills to be introduced when the Legislature convenes in January.
