Newsmakers: Religious Leaders React to the State Budget

Three of the 60 Wisconsin spiritual leaders who signed a "religious witness" document that said the 2011-13 state budget and other new laws hurt public schools, the poor, elderly and disabled, explained that criticism in a Newsmakers interview on Sept. 28. Those leaders were Rabbi Bonnie Margulis, Reverend Phil Haslanger of Memorial United Church of Christ, and Linda Ketchum, executive director of the Madison-Area Urban Ministry. The fourth panelist, John Huebscher, executive director of the Wisconsin Catholic Conference, said the Catholic Church took an issue-by-issue look at the budget.
