Newsmakers: Roger Ervin – Former Secretary of the Dept. of Revenue
Roger Ervin was secretary of the State Department of Revenue from 2006 until 2010 — a historical period because of a 7% drop in general tax collections, the need to raise corporate and income taxes, other problems caused by the Great Recession and the “border war” with Minnesota over residents who live and work in both states. In a Jan. 17 Newsmakers interview in the WisconsinEye studio, Ervin defended those changes and said Wisconsin’s tax structure is in better shape then when he took the job.
