Newsmakers: Secretary Rick Chandler – Dept. of Revenue

Rick Chandler is the only person to be secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Revenue twice — from 2001-03 and again starting in January. In a Feb. 14th Newsmakers interview, Chandler said he returned to that key post to help Gov. Scott Walker eventually lower high income, corporate and capital gains taxes — all of which hurt the state’s ability to attract and keep businesses that create jobs. Chandler also said Walker’s proposals to make government workers pay more for their pensions and health care are justified for a number of workers, including the need to hold down property taxes. As revenue secretary, Chandler runs the agency that will collect $12.6 billion in taxes in the budget year ending June 30.
