Newsmakers: U.S. Representative Ron Kind
Third District Congressman Ron Kind said keeping the federal health-care reform law is one of the most important needs facing the nation, despite rulilngs by federal judges that parts of it are unconstitutional. The Democrat, elected to an eighth term in November, also said health care and other emotional issues triggered more angry exchanges with voters in the last two years than ever before. Sounding like a potential 2014 Democratic candidate for governor, Kind also criticized Republican Gov. Scott Walker’s killing of a high-speed train connection between Milwaukee and Madison and the governor’s changes to setback rules for wind turbines — a standard Kind said will hurt Wisconsin’s growing wind energy industry. Kind’s Newsmakers interview was conducted on Jan. 31.
