Wisconsin Supreme Court: S. G. v. Wisconsin Department of Children and Families

On September 15, 2026, Wisconsin Supreme Court will hearing oral arguments on S. G. v. Wisconsin Department of Children and Families. Case Number 2024AP472. This is a review of a decision of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, District IV (headquartered in Madison), which reversed a Waupaca County Circuit Court order, Judge Troy L. Nielsen presiding, dismissing S.G.’s self-filed petition pursuant to WIS. STAT. § 48.13(9) (known as a CHIPS petition, which stands for Child in Need of Protection and/or Services).
