Jefferson County Circuit Court: Steven Benaszeski and Mary Benaszeski vs. Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources et al

On October 28, 2026, Jefferson County Circuit Court will hold a motion hearing on Steven Benaszeski and Mary Benaszeski vs. Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources et al. Case number 2025CV000506. The WMC Litigation Center, a non-profit law firm affiliated with Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC), filed a lawsuit against the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) on behalf of Steve and Mary Benaszeski. The lawsuit will determine whether the DNR can hold Wisconsinites liable for contamination they did not cause simply because they own contaminated land.
