Campaign 2012 Newsmakers: GOP Response to Gov. Walker Recall Petitions

"Now it’s real," State Republican Party Vice-Chairman Brian Schimming said after Democrats trying to oust Republican Gov. Scott Walker filed what they said was 1 million signatures trying to force that special election. In a Newsmakers interview in the state GOP headquarters in Madison on Jan. 17, Schimming said Republicans will check each of those signatures to verify their accuracy and said whichever Democratic candidate emerges against Walker will be tied to the old, failed policies and budget deficits of former Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle.
