Campaign 2012 Newsmakers: Preview of the Recall Primaries with Kevin Kennedy

Kevin Kennedy, director of the Government Accountability Board that oversees elections, said the full Board will have to decide how to handle an expected challenge to protest candidates who filed nomination papers in recall primary elections scheduled for May 8. A lawyer for Wisconsin Democrats says the protest candidates being run by Republicans in Democratic primaries amount to illegal election fraud. Kennedy also said he played no role in the decision of the Waukesha County executive to reassign vote-counting duties to a deputy Waukesha County clerk, following new vote-counting problems in the April presidential primary. May 8 primary elections are likely in recall elections pending for governor, lieutenant governor and four Republican state senators.
