Newsmakers: Former U.S. Senator Russ Feingold (D)
After spending 28 of his 59 years in office — as a Wisconsin state senator and then three-term U.S. senator — Democrat Russ Feingold said in a May 30 Newsmakers interview that he is enjoying life as a private citizen. He said he never seriously thought about running to replace retiring Democratic Sen. Herb Kohl or running in the June 5 recall election of Republican Gov. Scott Walker. Feingold predicted that President Barack Obama will be elected in November and called Republican Congressman Paul Ryan a "fake deficit hawk." Feingold refused to say he would never run for office again, however.
