Newsmakers: Governor's Budget and Local Governments
In a March 10 Newsmakers interview, three local government leaders said Gov. Scott Walker’s proposed cuts in state aid to communities in 2012 will result in less services. Dan Thompson, executive director of the League of Wisconsin Municipalities; Beloit City Manager Larry Arft and Mark O’Connell, executive director of the Wisconsin Counties Association, said Walker’s plan to weaken collective bargaining laws will not offset cuts in direct state aids.
