Newsmakers: League of Women Voters Report on June 5th Recall Elections

The League of Women Voters of Wisconsin sent 152 observers to 421 polling sites in the historic June 5 recall elections for governor, lieutenant governor and four state senators — elections that attracted more than 2.5 million voters. In an August 8 Newsmakers, League of Women Voters Executive Director Andrea Kaminski outlined five problems that observers found, and the state’s top election official, Government Accountability Board Director Kevin Kennedy, responded to each of those criticisms. The June 5 election was the 10th partisan election overseen by GAB since 2011, and two more — the Aug. 14 primary and Nov. 6 general election — are scheduled this year.
