Newsmakers: Lobbyists Prepare for New Legislature

In a Newsmakers show taped Dec. 20 in the WisconsinEye studio, three Capitol lobbyists with a total of more than 80 years of experience – Bill Broydrick, Alice O’Connor and Ed Huck – talked about preparing for a 2011-12 session run by Republicans and the election of 25 first-term Assembly Republicans. Broydrick, who now lobbies full-time in Washington, said the political process now works the same in Washington and Madison, with a full-time emphasis on fund raising and partisanship. As case studies, the three also talked about the death of the proposed high-speed passenger line from Milwaukee and Madison and the failure to approve a KRM commuter line that would have linked Kenosha, Racine and Milwaukee.
