Newsmakers: Media Strategies of Political Parties with Ken Goldstein

For the first time, a new study by UW-Madison Political Science Professor Ken Goldstein has revealed what professional political insiders have known for a years: What cable channels are most likely to be watched by Democratic- or Republican-leaning voters? And, are Democrats or Republicans more likely to rely on the Internet, newspapers or radio for political news? In a May 9 Newsmakers, Goldstein discussed the fascinating conclusions of a major study of eight large cities — including Milwaukee — by a group he founded, the Midwest Foundation on Media Research. It even measured the political leanings of sports fans; Green Bay Packers fans in Milwaukee tend to lean Republican, for example.
