Newsmakers: Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele

In a Feb. 22 Newsmakers interview taped at Marquette University, Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele said he gave his State of the County speech in Oak Creek to celebrate how the community responded after the Sikh Temple shooting. Abele also praised Gov. Scott Walker's new mental-health funding proposals, but said the governor's budget does not close a $14-million shortfall in funding for Milwaukee County's bus system. Abele also praised "Act 10" changes, enacted in 2011, that made public employees pay more for health insurance and pensions and said he will not be a Democratic candidate for governor in 2014, when Walker is expected to run for a second term.
