Newsmakers: State Patrol Planes Back In Air

The numbers are impressive: State Patrol pilots flew 79 enforcement missions this year, playing a role in 2,197 traffic stops, 1,324 speeding citations and clocking one speeder at 116 mph. In an Oct. 26 Newsmakers interview, Department of Transportation’s Randy Romanski and Patrol Major J.D. Lind discussed the enforcement flights and other Summer of Safety efforts. Then, WisconsinEye videographer John Blandino flew in one of the Patrol’s three planes to illustrate how they catch speeders and other dangerous drivers.
