Newsmakers: U.S. Rep. Ron Kind (D-3rd CD)

In a Newsmakers interview March 8, Democratic Congressman Ron Kind said "sequester" means "stupid" in Latin, and talked about the failure of Washington leaders to break the stalemate over revenue increases and spending cuts. He said sequester cuts will amount to a 20% pay cut for workers on Wisconsin military bases and the next crisis — over whether to raise the debt limit — looms in May. Kind was also critical of Republican Gov. Scott Walker for failing to set up a state health-care exchange and refusing to agree to expand Medicaid coverage to 175,000 state residents, even though the federal government would pay 100% of the cost of that expansion.
