Newsmakers: UW-Madison Affirmative Action Admissions

Roger Clegg, president of the non-profit conservative Center for Equal Opportunity, returned to Madison on Oct. 17 to defend his organization’s September report that accused UW-Madison of illegally admitting Hispanic and African-American applicants  ahead of Asians and whites in 2007 and 2008. In a Newsmakers interview in the WisconsinEye studio, Clegg said his group studied UW-Madison undergraduate and law school admissions for those two years and they violate a Supreme Court decision that struck down affirmative action programs at the University of Michigan. Clegg called on UW-Madison, the Legislature or the Attorney General to change those admission practices.
